Jess

Hello, my name is Jess, I live in a leafy outer suburb of Melbourne where there are many places for me to walk my dog, which I do most days. I have been working as a support worker for several years now and for me, it has been the most rewarding work that I have ever done. I have learned so much from my clients who are all unique and interesting individuals and I feel honoured to be part of their lives through good and bad times. My background is in entomology (the study of insects) which is a world apart from what I do now. I gave up entomology because I want to make a difference to people's lives and feel very grateful to have the opportunity to be able to do this. Although I am no longer an entomologist I still find myself searching for insects whenever I’m outside (often to my daughter’s embarrassment). When I’m not working I spend my time in my garden, listening to music, creating artwork and dancing; I love dancing because it makes me happy and all my worries disappear. I’m very much looking forward to meeting new people in my new role as a support worker.
